Thresholds

Thresholds Series

The Thresholds Series explores moments of transition—where movement, memory, and identity intersect.

Each doorway represents more than passage. It marks a shift: from one way of being to another, from what is known to what is emerging.

In the larger work, Beyond the Thresholds, the viewer moves through these spaces rather than observing them. The boundaries dissolve. What once framed the experience now gives way to open landscape, light, and presence.

The smaller works anchor the series in place—weathered surfaces, architectural fragments, and the physical reality of entry. Together, the paintings form a continuum:

from structure → to passage → to lived experience.

These works are not about arrival.
They are about what it means to continue.

Individual Old Doors that inspired the Thresholds series:

The Thresholds: Old Doors series traces a life in motion through three symbolic passages. Each door marks a transition — childhood, mid-life, and senior years — moments where direction was chosen, altered, or discovered without certainty of outcome.

As each door opens, it reveals a tunnel forward: a passage shaped by experience, influence, and evolving purpose. The journey is not linear or assured. Goals appear, recede, and re-form as movement continues through uncertainty toward the present moment.

Together, the red, yellow, and blue doors form a meditation on time, persistence, and becoming — where the act of crossing matters as much as what lies beyond.
