Sometimes the most meaningful journeys begin with a moment of stillness.

In Winter Pathways, an open doorway reveals a quiet winter landscape. Snow-covered evergreens stand beneath a luminous moon, distant mountains rise beyond a winding stream, and soft blue and lavender shadows settle across the snow.
There is no single pathway through this landscape. We might remain in the shelter of the doorway for a while, enjoying the beauty and stillness before us. We could follow the rising path through the trees, or, with the experience and equipment needed, venture across the open snow toward the distant mountains.
Each possibility offers a different experience, and none requires an immediate decision.
For me, this painting reflects something I’ve come to appreciate through a lifetime of exploration, learning, and adventure. There was a time when mastering new skills and overcoming difficult challenges brought tremendous satisfaction. I still remember the exhilaration of learning to ski, when the early uncertainty of stopping and turning gradually gave way to the freedom of gliding smoothly down a mountainside.
Over time, I’ve discovered that moving forward doesn’t always require confronting another obstacle. Sometimes it means recognizing the possibilities before us and having the confidence to choose what feels right.
Perhaps this winter landscape will remind you of a place you’ve visited, a quiet moment you’ve enjoyed, or a journey you have yet to take.
Winter Pathways offers an invitation to pause, reflect, and consider what comes next—with the freedom to remain where you are for as long as you wish.
